It’s
Tuesday, right? Good, I thought so. In that case let’s take a look at Bracken

Surviving
the sniper’s bullets is only the beginning of Lyn’s ordeal. Navigating
hostilities, both from outside and within, she establishes herself as the disputed
leader of a diverse group of customers and staff that are at odds with the
situation and each other.
MOUNTAIN
HOME really grabs hold and refuses to let go. The story hooks you early with an
explosion of violence and keeps your attention with its well worked plot and
fast pacing. But it’s the characters that really drive this novel. Under siege
and under pressure the tension between the protagonists is palpable. Strong, well written
female leads are a rare find and Bracken MacLeod has produced two in Lyn and
Joanie that are right out of the top draw.
You would be
hard pushed to guess that MOUNTAIN HOME is debut novel. Bracken MacLeod writes
with the effortless ability of a seasoned campaigner. His cultured narrative combines
a detailed character study with an all out actioneer and just a hint of real-world supernatural.
It all makes for a vastly enjoyable read.
My TBR pile
has now reached enormous proportions and I’m going to pull down the shutters for a while to give myself a chance to catch up. So unfortunately, I won’t be accepting any new requests to review until further
notice. If I have already promised you a review, please bear with me and rest
assured you will get it.
